CONCEPT With the commissioned, site-specific installation monca/vmh, artist Kari Marboe explores the transition of the Museum of Northern California Art into the Veterans Memorial Hall as it relates to public memory. Marboe focused on how a building or artwork can harbor public histories and emotions, and what happens to a site when it’s asked to house multiple narratives. This site-specific, text-based vinyl installation was temporarily placed within twelve of the entrance windows for six months, greeting and introducing passersby to the new museum location while it undergoes renovation.
